We Listened: NBC Sports and Universal Are Staying

At Volcano Communications, we’re always working to provide the best possible service at a fair price. Earlier this year, we announced that NBC Sports and Universal channels were among those slated for removal as part of our efforts to rebalance programming costs.
We heard your feedback — loud and clear. Many of you expressed how important these channels are to your viewing experience, and after further review and negotiations, we’re pleased to share that both NBC Sports and Universal will remain in our channel lineup.
Why Changes Are Still Being Made
Programming costs from TV networks continue to rise, with some requiring providers like us to carry large bundles of channels — even if only a few are frequently watched. To keep your monthly TV bill affordable, we’ve chosen to remove certain high-cost channels rather than pass those expenses directly on to our customers.
For example, one programmer charges $21.13 per month — accounting for 17.5% of our total programming costs — yet their channels make up only 6.7% of viewer watch time. Our goal is to provide quality programming while keeping service prices fair.
Exploring Your Options
While some channels have been removed, there are still plenty of ways to watch your favorite content. Many streaming platforms — such as Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, Philo, and YouTube TV — offer expanded channel choices, including many of those being discontinued.
