DSL Troubleshooting

My DSL connection is not working! What do I do?

  • Step 1

    Reboot your DSL modem. Turn the DSL modem off for at least 30 seconds and then back on. Wait for the DSL light to become solid. Once the DSL light is solid, this means that your DSL modem has synchronized with the DSL signal on the telephone line.

  • Step 2

    You should then see the Internet light turn red while the modem attempts to authenticate. Once the Internet light turns solid green, this indicates that your DSL modem has logged in with its username and password. Now try to go online. If you are still unable to connect please proceed to next step.

    *If you did not obtain your DSL modem from Volcano Internet, please consult your DSL modem user guide for more information.

  • Step 3

    Reboot additional devices. If you have rebooted your DSL modem and are still not able to get online you will need to reboot your other devices. If you have a router you will need to turn the power off for 30 seconds and then turn the power back on. It is then recommended to reboot any other peripheral equipment such as VOIP phones, computers, cell phones, etc. The order of powering the devices back on seems to make a difference. So make sure the order is modem, router (if you have one), and then other devices.

  • Step 4

    These steps will normally get your DSL connection back online. If you are still not able to get on the Internet, please contact our Volcano Internet Department at 209-296-7574.
